Big Brands Social Media Meat Up

The first day of SXSW came and went. Attendees flooded the convention center and spent the better half of the afternoon running into their Tweeps in person and checking out a few panels. With an expected 20,000 people this year, SXSW Interactive attracts big brands, agencies and techies alike for learning and networking. Before things got too hectic in town, GSD&M hosted the Big Brands Social Media Meat Up for members of SocialMedia.org. Their members were in town for SXSW, representing brands like AT&T, Coca-Cola, General Motors, and American Express.

Since many of them are from out of town, we thought what better way to welcome them than with our favorite barbecue from Salt Lick. While relaxing in our backyard, we caught up with a few of their members from Microsoft, Rogers Communications, Intel and Chevron to hear about why they’re at SXSW.

The SocialMedia.org crew has a busy few days ahead with many of their members speaking on panels and hosting parties. We’re just glad they were able to get some good Texas barbecue before their trip is through. And while Robert from Chevron playfully called us “The Other San Antonio,” we’ll be sure to change his mind with our  favorite spots around town. Welcome to Austin — there ain’t no other like us.
