Originally from a small town outside of Memphis, Tennessee, Valerie June’s style can be described as eclectic and extremely unique. Valerie crosses lines between genres and decades, with her latest album including folk, soul, blues, and country – a sound she’s referred to as her “organic moonshine roots.” Having learned to sing by listening to others in church, it’s no surprise this powerful musician taught herself to play several instruments including guitar, banjo and ukulele. Valerie’s distinctive style rang out in our screening room last month, and you can relive the performance in the video above.
