In the second year of the program, GSD&M will send 50 people to SXSWi as SXSurrogates to report back on various panels and events. Follow us using these channels:

GSD&M + Google Present: SXSW Industry Party

When: Monday, March 14, from 7-10p

Where: GSD&M (828 W 6^th Street) Map

GSD&M along with Google will host an advertising/interactive industry party with live music from the Mother Truckers, J. Roddy Walston and the Business and Lance Herbstrong (DJ). With sponsors including Deep Eddy vodka and Republic of Texas tequila and H2Orange. An official SXSWi event – anyone with a SXSW badge can enter and is recommended to RSVP to sxswparty@nullgsdm.com.

Hayes Carll Music Showcase

Live performance by Texas musician Hayes Carll at GSD&M and a taped interview for GSDM.com. Invite only.

Daniel Johnston SXSW Panel

When: Wednesday, March 16, 2p

Where: Convention Center, Room 9

A discussion and celebration of acclaimed Austin singer/songwriter and visual artist Daniel Johnston’s first 50 years of creating some of the most iconic art and memorable music in Austin’s rich creative history. Executive produced by GSD&M, the panel includes Daniel Johnston, Louis Black (founder of SXSW), Tom Gimble (Daniel’s longtime manager), Ryan Barkan of Primary Wave Music (Daniel’s music publishing company) and Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes. GSD&M Music Showcase

When: Thursday, March 17, from 5-7p

Where: Stubb’s (801 Red River) Map

Like last year’s Big Star / Alex Chilton tribute show, GSD&M is sponsoring another legendary act to include the North Mississippi Allstars at Stubb’s from 5-7p. Since this is an official SXSW Showcase, it is open to badge and wristband holders and those willing to wait in line.

Spike Jonze Presents Arcade Fire Short Film

When: Thursday, March 17

Where: GSD&M (828 W 6^th Street) Map

Director Spike Jonze to debut a short film on indie rock band and the 2011 Grammy Album of the Year winner, Arcade Fire. Invite only.

When: Saturday, March 12 through Sunday, March 20
