I tried to think of a clever title for this- one that would encompass everything that Oprah has done for television, for magazine, for the world, really…but I ended up feeling like one word might say it all. Okay, okay, you might think I’m overinflating Oprah’s impression on the world…but to that, I argue this:
Point A) Name another person that came from such unfavorable circumstances, that found and took opportunity, to become as successful as SHE has become and as broadly, positively impactful as she has been. Try. I dare you.
Point B) Name another person with the level of influence Oprah has earned. Think that’s debatable? Just look at Nielsen media, the beef association of America or the past few presidential elections. Come on.
So as an ode to the great Oprah, I offer some of her best quotes. What a good example of a woman and a brand that is built on purpose.
“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. Concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”
“Do the one thing you think you cannot do. Fail at it. Try again. Do better the second time. The only people who never tumble are those who never mount the high wire.”
“Luck is preparation meeting opportunity.”
“So go ahead. Fall down. The world looks different from the ground.”
And finally: “The whole point of being alive is to evolve into the complete person you were intended to be.”
Sound cheesy? Then go ahead and try them all. I dare you.
