GSD&M Welcomes Back Jay Russell as Managing Group Creative Director

AUSTIN, TexasApril 21, 2011 — GSD&M today announced the return of Jay Russell to the agency as vice president/managing group creative director. As a member of the creative department leadership team he will help manage the operations of the department and will provide creative oversight for several agency accounts. Prior to returning to the agency, Russell served as creative director at Crispin Porter + Bogusky in Boulder. There he managed the Microsoft Windows account and helped launch the Windows Phone to an international audience.

Previously at GSD&M Russell held the position of group creative director and was the lead creative on the BMW business. During this time he led the pitch that won the BMW global business.

“Crispin is in amazing place, but GSD&M is where my heart is,” said Jay Russell. “The agency is putting all of the right pieces in place to really take off in the coming years.”

Russell began his career at DDB where he worked on the Bud Light, PBS and American Airlines accounts. After that he worked as creative director for Miller Brewing at Square One and Nationwide Insurance at TM Advertising in Dallas. Russell has won awards from Cannes, Communication Arts, and One Show, among others.

“Jay has tremendous leadership and creative skills,” said Duff Stewart, president and CEO of GSD&M. “His capabilities will help drive great agency momentum.”

Russell received his degree in advertising from Southern Methodist University.
