AUSTIN, Texas—June 10, 2013—GSD&M announced today that Tom Hamling and Lee Sunga have joined the agency. As creative director, Hamling will help steward creative on the Goodyear account while also pitching in on Southwest Airlines, L.L.Bean and new business. Sunga will join the growing Walgreens strategy team in his role as a senior strategist.

Hamling comes to GSD&M from RPA/Los Angeles, where he guided the work for Farmers Insurance account—a piece of business he helped RPA pitch and win. Prior to that, he was a freelance writer for 72andSunny and spent over two years at 180LA creating global work for adidas, Sony, Boost Mobile and Bombay Sapphire. His other agency experience has consisted of almost three years at Wongdoody, Crandall, Wiener/Los Angeles and close to five years at Lowe New York working on notable campaigns for Got Milk?, Lego, Heineken, Sprite and the Art Center College of Design, among others. In 2007, Hamling wrote and sold his first book, Celebrity Vinyl, a satirical coffee table book based on his collection of albums recorded by famous actors, actresses and athletes.
Sunga is an experienced brand strategist who comes to GSD&M from Wieden+Kennedy NYC. There he provided strategic thought leadership on Nike, Heineken and ESPN. He did extensive work on NASCAR, MLB, X Games, and various ESPN brand initiatives. Sunga was also the strategic lead on numerous Heineken activations ranging from The Coachella Valley Music Festival to the U.S. Open. As a senior strategist at Avrett Free Ginsberg, he specialized in brand development and research for Nestle, Purina and Enterprise Rent-A-Car. He has experience including brand strategy positions at Cliff Freeman & Partners and BBDO and has been featured as a guest lecturer at Parsons The New School for Design and his alma mater, The University of Florida.
