“Dear Miss Manners: the Social Web, WTF?”

Not a session on what is right and wrong, but more an overview about how the social web is causing etiquette to evolve. It goes without saying many people struggle with the lack of privacy today, but even as far back as ancient times, the good ole rumor mill could bite you in the butt. So who is responsible for nothing being taboo anymore? Personally, I think there’s a lack of accountability. I’m reminded of an old saying, “You’re only as good as the company you keep.” I guess my “Momma” (telltale I’m from Louisiana) was right all along.

I’ll admit, when I when I first signed up for FB, unless you had a creepy, pedophiliac-looking profile pic, or I didn’t have the slightest recollection of your name then SCORE…you got to be my friend. Luckily the phase of giving everyone a sneak peek into my life passed. It wasn’t until I was blind-sided with a friend request from my mom that I decided to be a bit more austere. Dude, you cannot tag me in that pic from the party barge last weekend!
