In Austin, we like our coffee shops with a side of booze. So all our favorite coffee spots also have great wine, beer and even the occasional cocktail. Because what goes up, must come down.
Cenote
No machine-made drip coffee here. So sir. Not right. It’s French press or bust at Cenote. And despite taking their coffee that seriously, there’s no surly attitude here. Just good food, great coffee and even beer and wine. And it’s all in one of the oldest houses in Austin (built in 1887).
Our Pick: Grande Grilled Breakfast Burrito. Rockstar Bagels. And they even have gluten-free pastries if you’re so inclined.
Blue Dahlia Bistro

A little slice of the French countryside right here in Austin. Boissons (that’s French for drinks, y’all) include all your standard coffee drinks, plus beer, wine and rather delicious Hibiscus Mint Herbal Iced Tea. Lots of yummy pastries, tartines, salads and such. Plus, they have a great happy hour Monday through Friday 3–6:30 p.m.
Our Pick: Assorted breads at breakfast. Black bean salad when you need to feel healthy.

It’s a coffee shop. No, it’s a lunch spot. Wait, it’s a full bar. Whatever you need to get you through the day, you can find it at this spot on Fourth Street. And they’re open until 3 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Nice.
Our pick: S’mores roasted tableside.

When it’s nice out, the outdoor space at this low-key spot just north of campus is perfect for just hanging out. And there’s no rush, so stay awhile. Grab some food, move from coffee to beer and back again.
Our pick: Dirty Horchata
The Hideout

The coffeehouse at The Hideout Theatre is a cool little spot right in the middle of Congress Avenue. They’ve got regular coffee and fancy coffee — plus wine, beer and a couple of wine-based cocktails. And you can grab breakfast, lunch or a quick snack while you’re there. And don’t forget dessert. And, hey, take an improv class while you’re at it.
Our pick: Gorilla Mocha, because everyone loves gorillas and coffee and especially caffeinated gorillas
