Why You Should Eat a Tacodeli Taco (or Four)

If you’ve never been to Austin, then you probably don’t know how much we’re obsessed with tacos. They are a dietary staple. Eaten for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There are entire restaurants dedicated to them. Tacos are a big deal.

Because tacos are such an integral part of our culture, locals are very passionate about which place is the “best” taco place. And so I expect nothing less than a full-on backlash after this post. However, whatever criticism I get is worth it if it means you have the pleasure of eating at Tacodeli.

Yes, there are many other taquerias and you should try them all. But your time during SXSW madness will be limited, and that’s why you should listen to me. Tacodeli is a taco lover’s dream. There are endless unique options to choose from (scallops tacos?!), in addition to the classics like al pastor. I recommend trying one of their “Frontera Fundido” tacos, which consist of an amazing cheesy concoction that will change your life in one bite. And what really puts Tacodeli over the top is that anything you order will taste crazy fresh, like they picked it straight out of a taco tree.

I could go on and on but I’m really starting to get hungry. A few bonus things to mention: Tacodeli uses local ingredients where possible, the staff is really nice (not like some other “soup nazi”-style taco joints around here), you can choose from white, wheat or corn tortillas, and there are three convenient locations around town.

So go there. Directly from the airport. No need to thank me, just let me know what you think when that first taco hits your lips.
